The Symposium on Science Communication and Innovation for Genetically Modified Organisms was held in Beijing on March 26, 2016. It was jointly organized by the Beijing Institutes of Life Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (BIOLS, CAS), the Agricultural Biotechnology Science Communication Platform and the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGDB, CAS).

The topics of the presentations included research progress of GMO, popularization of GMO technology, food safety, the role of science communication in the development of GMO and so on. More than 300 researchers from institutes of CAS and universities attended the symposium, and all of them had a heated discussion on this hot topic.
