The fourth symposium of Beijing Forum of Life Science - Transgenic Agricultural Technology Utilization and Biosafety of Genetically Modified Organisms was held in Beijing on November 9, 2009. It was organized by Beijing Institutes of Life Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (BIOLS, CAS), co-organized by Monsanto Inc..

　　The symposium included two topics regarding genetically modified organisms (GMO): transgenic agricultural technology utilization and biosafety. Dr. ZHU Zhen from Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, CAS, Dr. HUANG Dafang from Biotechnology Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), HUANG Jikun from Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy, CAS, John MCLEAN from Monsanto Biotechnology Research Center and other experts gave presentations on the two topics. All speakers and audience had a lively discussion after the presentations.
