On December 8, 2008, the cancer biomarker research workshop between Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) was held successfully. The workshop was organized by Beijing Institutes of Life Science (BIOLS), CAS. More than twenty experts from CAS and PUMCH attended the workshop.

　　The workshop included presentations and discussion. Researchers from CAS, including Drs. Huanming Yang, Lin Wu, Siqi Liu, Changqing Zeng, Weijun Chen and Zhongsheng Sun, introduced the current knowledge of cancer biomarkers.Phycisions from PUMCH, including Drs. Jing Zhao, Nan Zhou, Ran Ran, Ling Qin and Wenming Wu, presented the clinical application of cancer biomarkers and the bottleneck that they encountered. Finally, all workshop attendees had a round table discussion about potential collaboration on gene mutation detection, cancer biomarkers, familial factors in cancer, et al. This workshop promoted the collaboration of basic science and clinical medicine.
