On May 13, Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Research Council (MRC) of UK visited Beijing Institutes of Life Science (BIOLS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
The attendees of the meeting with Sir Boryssiewicz included Dr. George F. Gao, vice president of BIOLS, Dr. Ming Li, director of Division of Scientific Exchanges and Cooperation of BIOLS, Xiao-ke Xia, director of the International Liaison Office of Institute of Biophysics (IBP),Dr. Rui-ming Xu , director of National Laboratory of Protein Science of IBP, Sarah Perrett, professor at IBP, Lei Qi, director of International Cooperation Department of Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology. In the meeting, Dr. Gao introduced the history of BIOLS and the current progress in international collaboration. Dr. Xu and Mr. Qi gave brief introductions on IBP and IGDB, respectively, focusing on the scientific research and international communication. Then the attendees discussed the details of collaboration plan and other issues.
After the meeting, Sir Borysiewicz and his colleagues visited Protein Science Core Facility, Proteomics Core Facility of IBP and China-Japan Joint Laboratory of Molecular Immunology and Molecular Microbiology of Institute of Microbiology.
