The China-US Research Center for Life Sciences has recently been established between Chinese Academy of Sciences and various US universities and research institutes, including University of Nebraska Medical Center, Arizona State University, etc. The mission of the center is to promote life science research collaborations between CAS and US institutions, mainly in the areas of stem cells, cancer, immunology, neuroscience and other important topics. The annual symposium is one of the functions being held at the center. The first symposium was successfully held in Beijing on October 15, 2008, focusing on immunology and neuroscience. The second annual symposium will be held in Omaha, NE, US, on September 15, 2009. The topics of the second symposium will be immunology and cancer.
